Going into track a lot of preparation needs to be done as per listed below, please let me know if i miss out or those i did not do.. Thanks
1. Engine oil change before track.
2. Check gear oil
3. Engine mounting
4. Cluth and brake oil check and make sure they work under good condition.
5. Good tyre needed. (Check on the date of tyre produced, within 5 yrs should be no problem for UHP tyres.)
Tyre that not bad in track, and you might want to try....
And for driver himself must have enough sleep/rest so that you can concentrate while in the track.
As a driver and you are going to compete with others, you must do some homework like study the track, thinking of ways how are you gonna take you APEX and achieve you best time.
I don't think i am pro enough to comment too much, but one thing i wanted to share is one of the participant during 31st track day did badly in training, time attack and even mini race! Usually in Penang he "speak" very loud about car, racing knowledge, car knowledge etc... Until he reach the track and he know what is called the "DIFFERENCE"
He now of course will feel maybe embarrass, dissapointed... I don't know, i also don't want to know!! But he told my friend he is going to mod his car, putting in 1.6 piston (Current is 1.5 stock) and gonna blast the track again on next track day..
Seriously i laught when i see the msg, the first thing first, my friend told me he got no skill at all, he do not know how to turn in corner properly, his driving style totally wrong. Plus the car setting is not proper, tyre also using year 2000 yokohama if not mistaken.. how does this going to make you archieve better lap time??
My suggestion to this guy is, improve yourself and be humble.. improve in your car handling as well as driving technique and i am sure you will archieve better lap next track day (If he joining) by using the same engine condition!!
