During Chinese New Year, on the 9th day, all hokkien people will have a praying ceromony to the god, (Direct translate = Sky God) also called as " Ti Kong"
The reason of praying with the 2 sugarcane beside the table is, during long long time ago, a hokkien village they have these sugarcane plantation, and during chinese new year (The 9th Day), there are someone who come and attack their village, and all of them hide in the sugarcane plant and they are safe because the height of the sugarcane safe them.
