With Friends in Gurney Drive

Few months back, meeting friends in Gurney Drive Penang.. and we always have a long chat, i dunno why.. maybe because we got nth to hide and we chat everything.. They are our good friends.. The guy is a professional hair styler and he own a hair saloon in Red Rock Hotel, Macalister Road, Penang.

If you guys do not have any good place for your hair style, it is strongly recommended to go there and look for him (Eddie).

Chap Goh Meh

The 15th day of the 1st lunar month is the Chinese Lantern Festival because the first lunar month is called yuan-month and in the ancient times people called night Xiao. The 15th day is the first night to see a full moon. So the day is also called Yuan Xiao Festival in China. According to the Chinese tradition, at the very beginning of a new year, when there is a bright full moon hanging in the sky, there should be thousands of colorful lanterns hung out for people to appreciate. At this time, people will try to solve the puzzles on the lanterns and eat yuanxiao (元宵)(glutinous rice ball) and get all their families united in the joyful atmosphere.

The most happening place during Chap Goh Meh is at Esplanade Penang, where there will be stage and also throwing oranges ceremony. This is for Girls throwing the oranges and hoping to get their good parther soon.

So me and my gf there not for throwing the oranges, but to take pictures, enjoy the entertainments and performances held there.

The most intersting performance is the Lion Dance by Team from Muar Johor, and they are 29 times Champion holder in the world.. After i watch their performances, one thing i can say and believe, THEY DESERVE IT!! They are really GREAT!!
